Music, film, and a new “Cultural Café” in Amman

I like to believe that someone out there actually relies on this list to find out about events in and around Amman (even though all the info is available through Facebook and email lists and other random places) :) So there you go:

Today, Monday July 7

Six Jordanian Documentaries (at the Franco Arab Film Festival), at Al Hussein Cultural Center in Ras Al Ein

Also today, at 9:00pm, a new cultural café – Jafra style, is opening in Jabal Luweibdeh, on the Paris Circle (Daraghmeh building). There’ll be some live music by a band called Baladna, and two other Arabic music singers/musicians.


Tuesday July 8

Canadian Jazz singer Diana Krall is performing at the Citadel at 8:30 pm as part of the Jordan Festival.

Also part of the Jordan Festival, George Wassouf, Elissa, and Omar Abdallat (yes he retracted his decision to boycott) are performing at the South Amphitheatre in Jerash.

If you don’t want to pay for the expensive Jordan Festival tickets, you can listen to some American Folk Music at the Cultural Village of the Hussein Park, at 8:30pm. A band called Old Grey Goose will be performing live, and it’s free of charge.

Algerian Night at the South Theatre in Jerash
with Cheb Khaled, Faudel, Biyouna, and the National Barbes Orchestra (more info)
